For me, decorating isn’t just about making spaces beautiful—it’s about creating moments, memories, and magic. I grew up in a home where the holidays were more than dates on a calendar; they were experiences. As the youngest of three, I shared a special bond with my mother, especially during the holidays. We were so alike, partly because our birthdays were just a day apart. Planning family parties, choosing themes, and decorating for the holidays became our thing. She taught me how to transform a Christmas tree into something straight out of a department store and make every gathering feel like an event.

When I lost her in 2014, I was heartbroken. But I honored her wishes by keeping our traditions alive. My father saw my love for decorating and hosting and joined in the fun, turning our annual Halloween parties into a cherished tradition. He, my husband, and I became inseparable—our own three amigos. But in 2023, I lost my father, too, and with that loss, I lost a part of myself again.

Grief took over, and life seemed to stand still. I stopped celebrating, stopped decorating, and stopped truly living. Then, a year and a half later, my sister gave me a gift around Labor Day weekend that sparked something inside me. My father’s birthday was just around the corner, and as I watched people on YouTube shopping for holiday décor, I realized how much I missed that joy. That day, I decided it was time to return to what made me happiest—bringing the magic of the holidays to life.

That spark turned into an idea in September 2024, and now, a year later, The Lisa Z Studios is ready to step into the world. The journey hasn’t been easy—life brought unexpected hospitalizations in my family, constant pivots, and the reality that living with disabilities means everything takes more time and creativity to accomplish. The world isn’t built for the disabled, so workarounds and resilience have become my new normal.

But through all of it, I’ve held onto this dream. And now I’m ready—not only to share décor and DIYs, but to invite you on this journey with me. Together, we’ll create joy, celebrate resilience, and bring the magic of the holidays home—one season, one story, one decoration at a time.
