About The Lisa Z Studios

For me, decorating isn’t just about making spaces beautiful—it’s about creating moments, memories, and magic.

I grew up in a home where the holidays were more than dates on a calendar; they were experiences. As the youngest of three, I shared a special bond with my mother, especially during the holidays. We were so alike, partly because our birthdays were just a day apart. Planning family parties, choosing themes, and decorating for the holidays became our thing. She taught me how to transform a Christmas tree into something straight out of a department store and make every gathering feel like an event.

When I lost her in 2014, I was heartbroken. But I honored her wishes by keeping our traditions alive. My father saw my love for decorating and hosting and joined in the fun, turning our annual Halloween parties into a cherished tradition. He, my husband, and I became inseparable—our own three amigos.

Then, in 2023, I lost my father too, and with that loss, I lost a part of myself again.

Grief took over, and life seemed to stand still. I stopped celebrating, stopped decorating, and stopped truly living.

Then, a year and a half later, on a September weekend, something began to spark inside me. My sister had given me a small Halloween piece the weekend before, and while I was looking at it and watching people decorate for the holidays, my thoughts turned to my dad.

His birthday was just around the corner, and as I watched people on YouTube shopping for holiday décor, I found myself thinking about how much he loved life and how much he would have wanted me to keep living mine.

In that moment, it felt like he was reminding me of something I had forgotten: this was something I loved. Decorating, celebrating, collecting, and creating memories — just as my mother had taught me — were all things that had once brought me joy.

That day, I decided it was time to return to what made me happy and bring the magic of the holidays back into my life.

Growing up in the ’80s, I describe this feeling as a Care Bear moment—my holiday spirit shining bright, just like when I was a child.

The Spark Behind It All

That moment became the beginning of an idea, and by September 2024, it had grown into The Lisa Z Studios.

The journey hasn’t been easy. Life brought unexpected hospitalizations in my family, constant pivots, and the reality that living with disabilities means many things require more time, more creativity, and a different way of getting them done. The world isn’t always built with disabled people in mind, so workarounds and resilience have become part of my everyday life.

But through all of it, I held onto this dream.

Today, The Lisa Z Studios is a year-round collector boutique built around the same thing that started it all: the belief that seasonal décor should feel personal, joyful, and worth keeping.

I curate vintage-inspired holiday décor, artist-designed collectibles, hard-to-find pieces, and thoughtfully paired sets for collectors who care about character, craftsmanship, nostalgia, and the story behind what they bring home.

Curated by Lisa Z

Every piece is selected from a collector’s point of view.

I look beyond what is simply trending and choose pieces that feel special enough to display, photograph, style, gift, and collect season after season.

The studio includes favorites from artists and brands such as Johanna Parker Design, Bethany Lowe Designs, Transpac, Blue Sky Clayworks, and other makers whose work fits the playful, nostalgic world of The Lisa Z Studios.

I’m especially drawn to pieces that can be difficult to find through ordinary retail channels—older releases, retired designs, seasonal finds, limited pieces, and collectibles that deserve another chance to become part of someone’s story.

Made for Collectors

For me, the experience doesn’t end when you click “buy.”

Orders are packed thoughtfully because I know what it feels like to wait for a collectible you love to arrive. I want opening a box from The Lisa Z Studios to feel intentional, personal, and special from the moment it reaches your door.

This is a small, woman-owned studio built from love, loss, resilience, creativity, and a lifelong belief in making every season feel a little more magical.

And now I’m ready not only to share décor, collectibles, and creative ideas, but to invite you on this journey with me.

Together, we’ll create joy, celebrate resilience, and bring the magic home—one season, one story, and one special piece at a time.
