✨ Forever the Silver Fox | A Heavenly Birthday Tribute

Today has been an emotional day—not because all emotions are sad, but because of everything I’ve gone through this week. I’m recovering from surgery, I’ve been working hard on launching my business, and I’ve been reflecting on life.

And today, September 14th, is especially heavy in my heart.

For many years, this date began with me calling my dad to say Happy Birthday. Three years ago, that changed. I can’t call him anymore, but every September 14th, I still wake up and whisper those words: Happy birthday, Dad. I love you. I miss you. Sometimes if I’m still awake past midnight, I’ll say it then—Happy birthday, Pops.

I do the same for my mom on her day. I’ve lost both of my parents, and life hasn’t been as sweet without them. But the foundation they gave me—resilience, humor, creativity, love—remains the reason I can keep going.

You might wonder about the symbols in my logo. The fox is for my dad. Most people knew him as Catfish, but to me, he’ll always be the Silver Fox. I started calling him that when he was in the hospital. Everyone admired his thick, silver hair, and I’d tease him about being such a flirt—he loved joking with the nurses, with clerks at convenience stores, with anyone who crossed his path. That nickname captured his charm and humor, and it’s how I’ll always remember him.

The circle around the Z in my logo is for my mom, whose initials were OZ. She never lost her spark, and she passed down to me her love of whimsical things—especially The Wizard of Oz. She taught me to see magic and creativity in the everyday.

Everything I do carries them with me. Happy heavenly birthday, Pops—you’ll always be the Silver Fox. And Mom, you’ll always be with me, somewhere over the rainbow. 🌈🦊💛

This is why The Lisa Z Studios is more than a shop. It’s my story, my process, my “here and now.” A mix of whimsical décor and real-life resilience, healing, and carrying love forward in everything I do.
